I had to go perform some in depth research for an article I'm working on.

"I was testing my vehicles abilities in less-than-ideal conditions on a closed course. I want to expect the best but be prepared for the worst, officer."

And what conclusion did you reach?

Hypothesis: if my car is RWD and light, then it will perform snow maneuvers in a fun and engaging manner.
Conclusion: snow donuts

BRZ + snow + snow tires - traction control = awesomesauce

My very first traffic stop happened when I was 18 and doing exactly that in my first car. I told the cop pretty much what you said. He ran my info, said he had no problem with what I was doing, but I couldn't do it there because it was private property. So I left.

did your research include results after performing the "pedal dance" ?

I know the pedal dance but I didn't bother trying it - just held the traction control button down for 5 seconds.

any electronic aids kick in at all? my brz has been stuck in a dealer all winter waiting for parts so been unable to hoon :(

I didn't notice anything kick in. When I lost the rear once or twice I noticed the stability control light flashing, but the car didn't try to save itself or anything. It definitely gave me enough rope to hang myself with.

I've not pushed mine yet too far, only had the back end out twice, once was on a sharp low speed turn that was wet and just fancied testing the limits due to it being fairly safe (had all aids on at the time) and it kicked out unexpectedly, the other time I purposely tried to get the back and out with tc off and it was a proper snap oversteer moment and quickly straightened out again low speed (no more than 20mph)

aw, that sucks... but with the stock tires, how have you not hooned a little? with as playful as the 86 is, i just can't help but hang the back end out at every situation it's safe to do so— dry, wet, snow, it doesn't matter. the car begs to be played with, sometimes i can't help but laugh at how easily controllable and playful the car is. also, i'm eager to burn the oem tires off..
if you read up on the ft-86 forums about the pedal dance(there's some comparison video's as well), it does limit computer interaction even further, though i've found that the 5 second button is plenty for everything i've pushed the car into doing(donuts definitely get the light to trigger). i assume the car is doing something when the light starts flashing, but i've never felt what it's doing. there is no noticeable power cut, and the abs system doesn't grind coffee like the car does like trying to slide with all systems normal.
this car is extremely controllable, as long as you turn down the distractions and pay close attention to what the car is doing..

Nah I have not had the chance to do much hooning with it, owned it for a month before a fault with the diff, oil level was 400ml down on what it should've been :(
